Denver (DEN) to Eugene (EUG)
7.4/10 Good! (415 reviews)
The hotel may be historic, but it is showing its age in less than pleasant ways. The host & owner was friendly & welcoming upon our arrival, giving us a room around the back (#25); the door's exterior had been significantly damaged looking like someone had tried to kick it in (splintered & loose plywood in multiple areas). The main room itself seemed clean and bright (apple green and white paint! So...vivid!) But the windows were filthy, a thick smear of grime on all of them from some previous failed attempt at cleaning). When I went to take a shower, I couldn't miss the black mold covering much of the painted ceiling and top of the walls. The tiled section of the wall was poorly grouted and moldy. It was gross. The ceiling fan was caked in dust.
So, we asked for another room; the host/owner said he had 2 that might be a bit better. He showed these to my husband and we moved to the cleaner of those. There was still mold in the shower ceiling and no fan or widow in the bathroom, but overall this room felt cleaner thanks to the newer plank flooring. The owner didn't really respond when asked about the state of the previous room and offered no reduction in price for our stay.
On the positive end of things, the location is great for walks to the jetty or Old Town. They are dog friendly, which is always nice. The breakfast included with our stay was fine - 100% edible with a variety of choices.
While we like to keep $ local, we won't be staying here again.

Chicago (CHI) to Eugene (EUG)
8.8/10 Excellent! (125 reviews)
Leaving 5 stars because this property was perfect for us during our short stay in Eugene. We were comfortable, and everything we needed was easily accessible. We would definitely stay here again.
I wanted to share a few pros and cons to help others decide if it's the right fit for them.
Pros:
-Great location.
-Walking distance to numerous restaurants and the 5th Street Market.
-Close to Autzen Stadium, where we attended a concert.
-Clean and tidy overall (with one exception noted below).
Comfortable bed and pillows.
-Easy, straightforward check-in process.
-The host was responsive and easy to reach by text message.
Cons:
-The walls are quite thin. We could hear our neighbours talking and playing music. It wasn't a major issue for us, and the room even provides earplugs just in case.
-The property is right next to the freeway, so there was some traffic noise at times.
-While the floors looked clean when we arrived, my white socks were black after about 30 minutes of walking around the room.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily book here again.
